Sarah Howe, Chair
Sarah began volunteering at the Centre in 2019, and joined the board in May of 2020. She has served as the secretary and fundraising chair, prior to moving into the chair position this past spring. Sarah has a strong passion for serving the community, and for bettering the lives of all brothers and sisters. Sarah is currently working on her Master’s degree in science at the University of Manitoba. Her research focus is on ICU-acquired weakness, where she gets to work directly with patients, aiming to conduct research to improve their quality of life. Sarah also owns a small catering business, and has a home in Winnipeg with her husband and two dogs, Addie and Chip. |
Moira Kennedy
Moira joined the board in 2022. She is currently studying Indigenous Studies at U of M and is starting Law School in the fall of 2022. Moira is passionate about the work NPDWC does to uplift survivors and create a safe space for women to heal, especially through the incorporation of traditional teachings, medicine, and ceremony. |
Allison Dyck
Allison grew up in Elmwood and has lived in the North End for the last several years. She is fiercely passionate about people, community, animals, and nature. Ever-curious about why people do what they do, she completed a Bachelor and a Master’s degree in Psychology. Her research background is in neurodevelopment, uncovering adaptive and maladaptive brain change both pre- and post-natally. Bioresearch also taught her that academia was not a good fit for her and she has joyously been working in community. Allison joined the board in early 2022 and is excited to put her creative, methodical mind to use within the Centre. |
Alannah Mckay
Alannah (She/Her/Kwe) joined the board in Spring of 2022. She is currently attaining her Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Studies at the University of Manitoba. She is the Managing Director of We Matter, a national Indigenous youth-led non-profit organization. Alannah is passionate about capacity-building and creating safer spaces for community members. She uses her skills to focus on advocacy and policy change for Indigenous and non-Indigenous grassroots and national non-profit organizations. In her free time, Alannah enjoys beading, learning her language and spending time with her family and pets. |
Trisha Kulathungam
Trish is an entrepreneur and mental fitness coach, with experience in the non-profit, social enterprise, and metal trades sectors. As the founder and Executive Director of The Higher Learning Foundation Inc, Trish has directed HLF’s evolution from a community scholarship program to a community support hub that provides mental fitness programming, student scholarship opportunities, and curates creative community art projects for anyone in need. Trish also actively supports programs for youth, community nutrition, and addiction and trauma recovery, as well as supporting public art and social justice projects, across Canada. Trish is a certified yoga and meditation teacher who creates and facilitates HLF Mental Fitness Programming. |
